What up folks, I'm back......No one said that Barack Obama was a saint, least of all me. I realized that as excited as I was to be a part of something greater than myself, there would come a time where the man would make a misstep and I would be forced to call him on it, regardless of my allegiance and loyalty. When the announcement was made that Rick Warren would make the invocation at the inauguration, I was disappointed that our new President would give such an honor to someone whose beliefs and viewpoints are so radically different from the platform on which Obama was elected. Warren's political leanings place him on the opposite side of the aisle from Obama, so to speak, and as such, he really has no place offering the prayer that will usher in the newest era in our country's history. He has repeatedly show intolerance for individuals who are different from him, including Muslims and gays who want the right to marry. Intolerance is never a good look in a spritual leader, and despite Obama's need to be inclusive to all in his administration, now is not the time for him to go and make new friends......this is a lose, lose situation for everyone at hand, particularly the folks who populate the groups that Warren chose to direct his nonsense towards, for a great number of them supported Obama because he represented change....but as this stands, it's more of the same and the low murmur you hear comes from those who are wondering aloud if this is one in a series of signs that their vote was wasted.....Personally, I'm thinking it's too early for that, but this act by the President-elect, unfortunately, makes us all wonder.....he should have just called T.D. Jakes and been done with it.
